A (Holy) Smile

A  (Holy) Smile

I pray awhile
and listen for your voice,
set to run away with fear,
yet I dig in, my own choice.

Hesitation with any visitation,
afraid to pipe up and speak–
shivers and shakes down my spine–
my knees quiver, so weak.

To the little girls rejected,
just to play and laugh;
to the tatted man,
will my words be enough?

Yet Holy Spirit flows and life begins,
a fresh wind to breathe in, so worthwhile
to where we pray and pray some more,
and hardened faces turn to a smile.

An explosion deep within our souls
of love and grace, hope and compassion;
we cry out for more,
and seek out our Father’s passion.

Yes, go to the broken and downtrodden,
pour out His love awhile,
and see the doors broken in
as each face begins to light with a Holy smile.

About Cleaver of God

A wordsmith rhymes with the times to share his heart, After a trip around the world, now the start To look ahead and write the lines That will begin to affect change all around, So hear the sound and see the pines Within the realm we found. My name is A.J. Wagoner and I love poetry; however, I also love this world and want to see the darkness turned to light, so my poetry rides the wings of eagles to bring hope to the hopeless, a voice to the voiceless, and a light to the darkness.
